  • Undiscovered Country Cycling Center, Los Altos
Join Michael Khaw (408-737-0238 wheelers@dorkypantsr.us) at 9:45 am at Undiscovered Country (2249 Grant Rd., Los Altos, next to Lucky’s at Foothill Xpwy and Arboretum/Grant. Google Map. Please park in the Lucky’s parking lot next door as parking is very limited). We’ll follow some familiar and unfamiliar roads and paths to visit the Don Burnett Bridge over I-280 at Mary Ave. in Sunnyvale and wind our way through De Anza college campus on our way to Rancho San Antonio and the old quarry in Los Altos. After that, those who aren’t afraid of a little dirt will climb over from lower Moody to Altamont while dirt-phobes can detour around via Elena and Taaffe. We’ll coalesce at Natoma & Altamont, wander around some back ways through Los Altos Hills and visit the Alpacas on Alta Tierra on our way back to Undiscovered Country. Lunch is at the end at Alotta’s Deli/Cafe next door to Undiscovered Country. Rain cancels.

March 20 update: Because of rain Tuesday night through Wednesday, the 0.6 mile dirt climb from Moody to Altamont on Chaparral is not suitable. The revised route goes up Altamont and does a loop around Byrne Park Lane, Deer Springs Way, Deer Springs Path and Julietta Lane (all paved). The cue sheet, GPS files, RideWithGPS page link, map and elevation profile have all been updated to match the revised route.
