Come prepared for an assault on the Geysers, that marvelous tree-shaded 16 mile climb that many of us know and love. Don’t be scared off though, as there is only one steep section (1.5 miles). As a reward for their climbing efforts, C/D/E riders will experience a sweeping 10-mile descent back to the valley floor before lunch. C/D/E’s ride 40 miles and climb 3800 feet before there is anywhere to buy food, so they need to bring whatever food/water is necessary to get them to lunch. The more civilized B riders will follow the rustic Healdsburg wine loop along Dutcher Creek, West Dry Creek, Alexander Valley, and Red Winery roads. The B route stops for lunch in Healdsburg and offers a 58-mile option. C/D/E routes all have shortcut options (see route sheets online). Rain cancels.
