Eden is great for this, Starting April 1st we will climb Mt. Eden once - and come back to the start. Warm up to the bottom of Mt. Eden (10-12 MPH) climb at your own pace - regroup at the top and return. No lunch stop.

In Mid April - we will add stop at the park at the bottom for 2 minutes, followed by a second trip up to the top. The goal is to be back before dark, however - it is always good to ride with lights and make yourself visible in case we do one climb to many and it starts to get dark. Will discuss the number of climbs of Mt. Eden before we leave and the rules for how the intervals work once we start doing multiple climbs. If you don't like hills - this is the perfect ride for you to build your strength and speed on climbs so the mountains can become your friends.

This is a series of evening rides varying from 15 to 30 miles in Los Altos Hills, Portola Valley and Saratoga, sampling local hills and out-of-the-way roads. Meet at Shoup Park in Los Altos at 6:00 PM, for a 6:10 PM departure. There are two ride group options: C/D and D/E, with routes suitable for each group. The routes vary each week, to take advantage of the available daylight. Every effort will be made to get riders back before dark, but bring lights just in case. Many of the riders go out to dinner afterwards at a variety of local restaurants. C/D leader: Gary Goldman (gary_goldman@yahoo.com, 650-279-5315). D/E leader: Mike Boester (mboester@udctours.com)

    • Sunnyvale Community Center

Meet Howard Shafer (408 712-4573 or jhshafer@sbcglobal.net) at the Sunnyvale Community Center at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start on this beautiful ride. Our destination is up a steep, shady, mountain road past ancient redwood trees. We’ll eat lunch in a fairy circle by a turtle pond. There aren’t any restaurants nearby, so bring your lunch. And don’t be too intimidated by the mention of steep hills: Yes, they’re steep, but they’re short. We’ll ride at a B pace. Nobody will be involuntarily left behind.
