    If possible, please register for our "2 day weekend" rides, so we can plan better. (Registration is not a strict requirement so please feel free to decide at the last minute if necessary.)

    LDT RIDE: GEYSERVILLE WEEKEND

    • B/2(1500’)/38;
    • C-/3(3500’)/51;
    • C/3!(4500’)/60;
    • D/3!(5000’)/69;
    • E/3!(6000’)/87

    Come prepared for an assault on the Geysers, that marvelous tree-shaded 16 mile climb that many of us know and love. Don’t be scared off though, as there is only one steep section (1.5 miles).  “Out-n-Back” C- route option climbs beautiful Geysers Road to the base of the steep section, then returns for lunch in Cloverdale. As a reward for their climbing efforts, C/D/E riders will experience a sweeping 10-mile descent back to the valley floor before lunch. C/D/E’s ride 40 miles and climb 3800 feet before there is anywhere to buy food, so they need to bring whatever food/water is necessary to get them to lunch. The more civilized B riders will follow the rustic Healdsburg wine loop along Dutcher Creek, West Dry Creek, Alexander Valley, and Red Winery roads. The B route stops for lunch in Healdsburg and offers a 58-mile option. C/D/E routes all have shortcut options (see route sheets online). Rain cancels. Online route sheets/maps/gps.

    ACCOMMODATIONS

    RESERVE ROOMS FOR PASO ROBLES LDT BEFORE MARCH 1

       Since Paso Robles is a three-hour drive from Palo Alto, you’ll probably want to stay overnight. 20 non-smoking rooms have been set aside for Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at the Adelaide Inn. Rooms with one queen bed are $126.11 per night including taxes, and rooms with two queen beds or one king bed are available for $165.77. RESERVE BY PHONING 805-238-2770 BEFORE MARCH 1 and tell them you are with Western Wheelers. After March 1 rooms will be available on a first come basis, but prices may be higher. BC/0/62   R & R Series  Delta Century By Stockton Bike Club.   5/1/16   The 5th in the series! Though many cyclists think “flat” is a four letter word, the scenery and region are truly unique and beautiful, it’s one of the R & R favorites!   This bucolic century has its Start/Finish @ pastoral Jessie’s Grove Winery.  The quiet route travels through the vast Lodi wine region then NW out into the expansive Delta along the levees, through the towns of Walnut Grove, Ryde and Courtland.  It crosses two cantilever bridges over the Sacramento River before returning to a nice finish line meal at the winery.

    The R & R organizers, Randall Braun & Ron Dell'Aquila, who’ve ridden & vetted this event, will be the hosts. They will provide support with carpooling, hotel recommendations, use of an enclosed, secure 10-bike trailer, and lots of local knowledge. If you’ve wanted to try new rides, but didn’t know where to start – this is a great opportunity to go with your WW buddies and discover your new favorite century.
