    The Monday morning ride for bicyclists who live in the northern cities of the Peninsula is growing in numbers. It is a flat (except overpasses) route to Café Borrone in Menlo Park for coffee and/or breakfast. We return at a social pace through the quiet, residential streets in Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City, San Carlos, and Belmont. The Hill Climbers’ Option adds 12 to 16 miles to the ride. Meet at Los Prados Park at 8:30 AM for a departure at 8:45 AM. Directions: From 101, drive east on Hillsdale Blvd., take the first right on Norfolk St. and right again on La Selva; take the first left onto Casa de Campo. The Park is on the left.     If you are not ready for the faster pace of the other Monday morning Café Borrone rides until after you've had your coffee, then this ride might be just right for you. Meet Tom Stephany (650-483-4273 day of ride only) at Rengstorff Community Center, 201 S. Rengstoriff Avenue, Mountain View.  Meet in the parking lot near the Community Center Building off of Rengstorff Avenue.  We'll meet at 8:45 AM for a 9:00 AM departure for Café Borrone in Menlo Park.  Very flat, and we'll travel at a mild, social, and comfortable "A" pace.  Nobody left behind, we are in this together.  Rain cancels.

Return at a social pace through quiet residential streets. Meet at the Undiscovered Country Cycling Center down the street from the Lucky's parking lot, less than 1/4 mile north of Homestead Rd. (address is 2449 Grant Road for the map-inclined) at 9:15 AM for a 9:30 AM departure. This is next door to Lucky's.     Peter B. has now retired from leading this ride. In honor of his many years of dedicated service we have named the ride after him, and the immortal works of his ride description will be retained here, mostly intact. So here we go: Retired, home executive, between jobs, playing hooky? We’d love to have you join us each Tuesday during the year, rain or shine, at Starbucks in the Westmoor Shopping Center in Sunnyvale, corner of Fremont and Mary, at a later, civilized hour. The route is a variation of the Portola loop with lunch stops at various eating places in the Palo Alto area. There are hilly C and D routes as well as a flat route. All rides meet at 10:45 AM for a prompt 11:00 AM departure. The hilly route varies through the month. Routes in Excel and PDF format. Everyone assembles together at regroups and lunch.     Join Robert Sexton (robert@kudra.com408.218.8466) and Mark Bagnola (mbagnola@mac.com) for a fast lunchtime ride from Cupertino into the hills around Stevens Creek Reservoir.  Typical routes include one of: Montebello, Redwood Gulch, or Villa Montalvo/Peach, and are finalized at the ride meet to be about 90 minutes long with a brief regroup at the top of the hill(s) of choice.  Meet behind the Cupertino Target (intersection of Alves Drive and Saich Way) by noon for a 12:05 Sharp Sharp departure.  Falling rain cancels.

    If you can ride the hills but not at the fast D/E pace, come join us, the D Social Climbers. Please note the Social Climbers' ride is not suitable for novice riders, nor for riders lacking climbing experience. We do the same ride as the D/E's, meeting at Shoup Park at 9:45 AM for a 10:00 AM departure. These rides vary weekly, but often include Hwy 9, Page Mill, Old La Honda, Kings Mountain, West Alpine or Tunitas. Always be prepared for variable weather on Skyline. Cruise over a few Los Altos hills and then head to Stanford University for a culture fix. We’ll compare themes of New Guinea sculpture with the sculptural themes of Rodin.     Join Moraya Khan and Cindy Asrir for one of the most spectacular rides in West Marin! Meet at 10:30 AM for a 10:45 AM departure at the Rancho Nicasio Bar and Restaurant, 1 Old Rancheria Rd in Nicasio. (Park by the street and avoid spaces next to 2-hr parking signs). Riding past the Nicasio Reservoir, we'll ascend the Petaluma Hill to regroup at the Cheese Factory. We'll ride through lush valleys before climbing the Marshall Wall with breathtaking views at the peak. We'll enjoy a dizzying descent to Shoreline Highway and have lunch/oysters at the Marshall Store by Tomales Bay, weather permitting. (If the weather does not cooperate, Plan B is lunch at Pt. Reyes Station at either the Cowgirl Creamery or the bike-friendly Station House Cafe). From the Marshall Store, we'll bike-surf the rolling terrain along the Shoreline Highway to the Bovine Bakery in Pt. We'll be riding through quiet residential streets to enter the Stevens Creek Bicycle /Pedestrian Trail and continue on to the Lakeside Cafe in Shoreline Park in Mountain View. We'll have coffee and fresh pastries and enjoy the view of the sailing lake before heading back the way we came. We'll be riding about an hour each direction and there are 3 bicycle/pedestrian overpasses and 3 tunnels on the Stevens Creek Trail. Rain or threat of rain cancels.

    Our ride starts at the historic “Parade Grounds” in the Presidio, then across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Marin Headlands. All groups get a taste of the Marin Headlands with a climb up all or part of Conzelman Road, then descend to the Bunker Road Tunnel and Sausalito. D riders will climb to the Panoramic Highway and loop through scenic Muir Woods, while the E’s add Pan Toll Road. All routes will traverse lovely Paradise Drive enroute to Tiburon for lunch. We’ll travel south through Tres Pinos and Paicines and take Cienega Rd. and Union Rd. over to San Juan Bautista. E’s add a hefty climb (2800’) up Fremont Peak. B and C riders will have an earlier lunch back in Hollister, then continue towards the mission after lunch. D and E riders lunch (bring or buy) at the picnic tables (weather permitting) at the Mission Plaza Square. Flat route back to Hollister from the mission. Bring plenty of water/snacks. Rain cancels.
