    We'll ride from Redwood Shores, through San Mateo, and Hillsborough, making our way up to Skyline - and then down and back up again, as we make our way north to San Bruno. Then back to Burlingame for lunch at the Steelhead Brewery. After lunch a flat route back to the start. Meet Mark Mack (mamack@comcast.net or 925-207-4993) at 10 am in Redwood Shores at the parking lot near the Oracle headquarters so we can get started around 10:15. Take 101 to the Ralston/Marine Parkway exit and go east - toward the big green Oracle buildings. Turn left on Oracle Parkway (stoplight) and turn left at the first intersection (stop sign) into the parking lot. Note that lunch is at the 30 mile point in the ride.

     Going to the Ride Leaders' BBQ? Or just want to get out and ride with friends on a beautiful Saturday? Join Cindy Asrir, Julie Ma and Gary Virshup for a fun and hilly romp through Portola Valley, Woodside and Emerald Hills. We'll explore the roads less traveled in Portola Valley (Valley Oak, Iroquois Trail, Shawnee Pass, Possum Lane, etc), take a side trip to Huddart Park, and loop around Canada College before returning to Portola Valley. We'll split into social C and D groups, with extra credit loops for faster riders. No rider left behind.


    Meet at 10:30 AM for a 10:45 AM start from the Alpine Inn (3915 Alpine Rd, Portola Valley). Parking is available in the adjacent parking lot, but please park in the back of the lot (away from the restaurant). No lunch stop, but snacks and water available along the way. Everyone is welcome and we plan to be back by 2 pm, in time for the Ride Leaders' BBQ or lunch and refreshments at the Alpine Inn.

    The Monday morning ride for bicyclists who live in the northern cities of the Peninsula is growing in numbers. It is a flat (except overpasses) route to Café Borrone in Menlo Park for coffee and/or breakfast. We return at a social pace through the quiet, residential streets in Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City, San Carlos, and Belmont. The Hill Climbers’ Option adds 12 to 16 miles to the ride. Meet at Los Prados Park at 8:30 AM for a departure at 8:45 AM. Directions: From 101, drive east on Hillsdale Blvd., take the first right on Norfolk St. and right again on La Selva; take the first left onto Casa de Campo. The Park is on the left.     The Mike's Monday Madness Ride (aka "The Palo Alto Monday Night Ride of Awesomeness") is a 20-mile moderately-paced ride around Portola Valley and the Los Altos Hills. Join guest ride leaders and the staff of Mike's Bikes as we get out on the bike for a fun evening spin and some cycling camaraderie to shake the Monday blues. Meet at6:00 pm in front of Mike's Bikes, 3001 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, for a 6:15 pm roll. Mike's will host a free BBQ once a month following the ride---all are welcome to stay and eat!

    Peter B. has now retired from leading this ride. In honor of his many years of dedicated service we have named the ride after him, and the immortal works of his ride description will be retained here, mostly intact. So here we go: Retired, home executive, between jobs, playing hooky? We’d love to have you join us each Tuesday during the year, rain or shine, at Starbucks in the Westmoor Shopping Center in Sunnyvale, corner of Fremont and Mary, at a later, civilized hour. The route is a variation of the Portola loop with lunch stops at various eating places in the Palo Alto area. There are hilly C and D routes as well as a flat route. All rides meet at 10:45 AM for a prompt 11:00 AM departure. The hilly route varies through the month. Routes in Excel and PDF format. Everyone assembles together at regroups and lunch. We'll meet at Shoup Park and make our way up to Page Mill via Muddy (Dirty) Moody.  We will climb Page Mill before the weather gets too hot. Once we regroup at Page Mill and Skyline we will head towards Old La Honda with a stop at Thomas Fogarty Winery (mostly for the views, bathrooms, and water fills versus the wine tasting!).  After descending OLH, we will make our way to the Portola and Alpine triangle for another regroup before headed back down to get to Shoup.

    This is a series of evening rides varying from 15 to 30 miles in Los Altos Hills, Portola Valley and Saratoga, sampling local hills and out-of-the-way roads. Meet at Shoup Park in Los Altos at 6:00 PM, for a 6:10 PM departure. There are two ride group options: C/D and D/E, with routes suitable for each group. The routes vary each week, to take advantage of the available daylight. Every effort will be made to get riders back before dark, but bring lights just in case.     The popular Eastern Sierra tour is scheduled again this September. These are club rides open to anyone. We are not a tour company. There are no fees. Join us for all or part of this tour. This year we start in Bishop. The climbs are described in “The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike) by John Summerson.” We will offer shorter options with less climbing on some days. All routes are out-and-back so you can do the climbs at your own pace.

    Every third day you have the option: relax, take a beautiful hike, or take a make-up ride if you arrived late. We will pick out some spectacular alpine hikes. We’ll stay in hotels in Bishop and Lone Pine. ACTC members Donny Axtell and Joan Freed have agreed to lead this tour, taking over for Dick and Donna Matthews, who plan to participate on the tour.     This scenic ride starts at Squaw Valley and takes cyclists along the Truckee River and the shores of Donner Lake, with stunning climbs for the metric and century routes. The metric century adds both sides of Donner Summit, while the full century climbs Donner Summit, Brockway Summit and Ski Slope Way. All routes include lunch and rest stops, as well as pizza, beer, wine and music in Squaw Valley after the ride.     Join us for this re-do of our spring LDT Weekend trip. We’ll explore beautiful Napa Valley, Pope Valley, and Lake Berryessa, starting at our group campsite at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. B riders take a modest route around Lake Hennessy, and then follow interior valleys up the Pope Valley. C riders add a trek eastward along the shores of Lake Berryessa Lake, and then loop back to the Pope Valley Market. D’s and E’s start their ride with the tough climb up Howell Mountain Road before following the C riders to Lake Berryessa. E’s add an outward spur to Eticuera Creek. All groups stop at the Pope Valley Market for snacks/lunch. The market has snacks, drinks, and ice cream, but riders should plan on packing a sandwich for their lunch. All routes return via the moderate three mile climb up Ink Grade Road, followed by a wonderful descent through the Deer Park neighborhood and on to Bothe-Napa State Park. This ride is doable as a day trip, but riders are encouraged to join us at our group campsite, which can accommodate up to 30 campers. The road construction on Berryessa-Knoxville Road has been completed, so the gravel we encountered in April is all newly paved! Rain cancels. Online route sheets/maps/gps.

    MEETING TIME: 9:15 am for 9:30 departure

    MEETING LOCATION: All rides will start at our Bothe-Napa Valley State Park group campsite. Riders who are not camping can park in the day use parking area (there is an $8.00 daily parking fee per car). The group campsite is adjacent to the day use parking area on the opposite side of the restroom/shower building. Directions: From I-80 North, take CA-37 West, then CA-29 North to Napa, then continue north. The State Park entrance is about five miles past Saint Helena on the left side of Highway 128/29. Driving time from Palo Alto is about two hours.

    ACCOMMODATIONS: We have reserved a group campsite for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park which can accommodate up to 30 people (total cost $20-25 per person). Rides on both Saturday AND Sunday will start and finish at the campsite. (We plan to depart on Sunday, but reserved Sunday night so we can stay as long as we want on Sunday afternoon). We will have a pot-luck BBQ at the campsite on Saturday evening – all are welcome (see note above about daily parking fee for non-campers) - details will be sent to registered riders. Hotels are numerous in the Napa Valley, but they are all quite expensive and most require a two night stay. Lodging is available in Calistoga (4 miles), but is a little cheaper in Napa (21 miles).

    Our Sunday ride will start and finish at our Bothe-Napa Valley State Park group campsite. We’ll ride to and through lovely Calistoga, and then explore the hills west of the town. On our return we’ll stop for lunch in Calistoga, about five miles from the finish. The D riders will add a challenging eight mile climbing extension up Ida Clayton Road. We will have separate B, C, and C+/D riding groups as needed. We reserved our group campsite for Sunday night so we can stay as long as we want on Sunday afternoon.       This route goes up Calaveras, a 3 mile climb with an overall average grade of 6%, including a few short, steeper sections. The fun, fun, fun rollers overlooking Calaveras reservoir make it all worthwhile, though. The D ride spices things up a little, with the addition of the tough 3 mile climb up Sierra Rd. After Sierra, the “parkour” rejoins the C route. Then it’s down to Pleasanton for lunch (26 miles). The good news is that the return via Calaveras is not as steep. Meet at 9:45 AM for a 10 AM start in the Target parking lot of the shopping mall located at the corner of Landess Ave and Morrill Ave in Milpitas. Park on the side closest to Montague/Landess.
