Western Wheelers Bicycle Club

Support your club! The Sequoia is our fund-raising event which makes possible all the picnics, parties and other events the club hosts (you didn't think your dues covered all that did you?). A few hundred volunteers are needed to make this event run smoothly.

NOTE: If you're volunteering for multiple roles, you have to sign up for them one at a time, returning to this page each time. It's not as convenient as it could be, we know, but that's how this software service we're using works.

This is your chance to put your expert baking skills to use for the club or to acquire baking skills. Last year's home baked goodies drive was so successful that we've expanded it! We're accepting cookies, muffins, breads or whatever can conveniently be consumed by a bicycle rider. Just sign up and let Suzie Shao know what you will bake and when you can deliver it. You can deliver on Saturday to the food distribution locale, to a rest stop (especially if you're volunteering there) or maybe to Suzie.

The team will need a minivan (all seats should be removed to make enough room for the many coolers) or a truck with a cap. They will pick up the coolers and payment check from Judy DeFranco/Jon Blum, then drive to Golden State Ice Cream in San Jose. Ice cream must be removed from boxes and packed into coolers in rows (might get help from vendor). Also wrap dry ice in paper and put into top of each cooler. Make sure lids are tight (weight on top if possible) as cracks will allow dry ice to evaporate too quickly.

The Sequoia Workers' Picnic is a thank you gift to our volunteers. This year, Bettina Vinsant is planning the picnic. It will include great food, live entertainment and the company of fellow volunteers. Volunteers, their significant others and minor children are invited.

We want to make sure we have enough food, so if you are planning to attend, please sign up. Please do not sign up if you are not a Sequoia Volunteer or guest of a volunteer.
