Another very difficult climb. We'll cycle through the Alabama Hills in route to the climb. Looking ahead, you'll see the giant switchbacks on the flanks of the Sierras. This is the steepest section but has some of the best views on earth of Owens Valley. A false summit is followed by a short descent before climbing resumes to Horseshoe Meadows (el. 10,080'). Option to do 39 miles and 5,800' of climbing. Meet at the Best Western Frontier Motel, 1008 S. Main St., Lone Pine, CA. Carry your lunch and a lot of water on the ride. Ride leaves at 8:30 AM, please arrive beforehand. For more information contact Dick Matthews: 408-866-0451 (home), 408-529-8382 (cell) or rmatthews2@aol.com.
